ENGLAND
Rehearsals for the play “England” began during the Middle East crisis. Flights were canceled and my presence in Macedonia was practically impossible.
ENGLAND

ENGLAND By TIM CROUCH (Reading “ENGLAND” in North Macеdonia from Iran)

Directors word

We had two options: either we had to stop the rehearsals or, for the benefit of the project, consider the situation as part of our production process. The support and participation of the National Theater and the dear members of the theater troupe paved the way for the second option.

We started rehearsals remotely, which has become an integral part of our performance structure. And isn’t that what our artistic work is all about? To find a way to smooth out sharp edges, suffering, and pain. As a result of the rehearsal experience, the play's name was changed to (Reading "England" in North Macedonia from Iran). And we are lucky that "England" is about art and relationships, and how we interact with all the differences in language, origins, cultural backgrounds, etc.

Now I think it should have been like this from the beginning, and that’s the magic of theater.

A power that nothing – absolutely nothing – can stop. We are all connected. A relationship that neither language differences nor distance can break.

I am grateful to all the dear ones who supported me in this project. Nasim Ahmadpour
